Innovarum (Madrid, Spain)
Innovation consultant (Agri-Food)
(Madrid, Spain)
Innovation Consultant (agrifood/bioeconomy)
Ready to make European agrifood and bioeconomy innovation blossom right from Madrid? Talento Cientifico is looking for someone curious, innovative, and unafraid of complex challenges-who enjoys variety and never stops learning. If you want to co-create proposals that shine, crafted by a Wageningen-rooted team at Innovarum with a 48% EU-project success rate, you’ll fit right in.
Innovarum’s boutique approach means only the most promising initiatives are chosen, every word polished together with supportive colleagues. No one is rushed; careful reviews and team support make each project stand out. Flexibility is central, and work-life integration is a real priority.
If you already master or aspire to master the art of winning EU proposals in agrifood and bioeconomy, this is your place to grow.
About the opportunity
Shape proposals for food, agriculture, and the circular bioeconomy-one week it’s plant health, the next it’s green chemistry or biotech, always discovering something new. Enjoy the rhythm: two collaborative days in the Madrid office, three days remote. Innovarum values true flexibility so you can contribute your best, wherever you are.
You’ll take the lead in shaping high-impact proposals that define the future of European innovation funding—so solid grant writing experience is the core of your contribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead writing efforts for flagship EU grants in sustainable agrifood, biotechnologies, and the fast-evolving bioeconomy sector.
- You’ll have authored at least one successful application for a European program.
- Guide projects from idea to delivery-supporting every stage, no matter the complexity, and reviewing proposals together so the results truly shine.
- Connect with experts and innovators in food systems, biotechnology, green chemistry, and beyond.
Who Thrives Here?
- Your curiosity drives you-routine does not.
- You love exploring new disciplines and see complexity as a challenge, not a barrier.
- You learn fast, adapt quickly, and value collaboration and peer review.
- Work-life balance and team support are priorities for you.
Ideal Profile
- Degree in Engineering, Agronomy, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Environmental Sciences, or similar.innovarum-innovation-consultant.doc
- Proven track record or strong experience in grant writing for agrifood, biotech, or bioeconomy programs (Horizon Europe, CBE JU, Cluster 6, Mission Soil)—senior applicants who’ve led successful proposals will feel especially at home.
- Strong analytical capacity, flexible problem-solving, and C2-level mastery of Spanish and English.
- Happy to work from the Madrid office at least a couple of days a week
- Experience in project management is a plus.
Why You’ll Love This Role
- Permanent contract-two days in Madrid office, three days remote; made for balance and real flexibility.
- Work with leaders in food innovation, sustainable agriculture, and all aspects of the bioeconomy.
- Boutique, caring atmosphere: Innovarum selects very few projects, so each receives the attention to shine, supported by team review.
- Continuous learning, genuine collaboration, and projects you’ll be proud to present.
- Whether you’ve already led winning projects or are ready to take that step, you’ll find the right environment to evolve into a reference grant writer.
Important Note
Only EU citizens will be considered for this position, as Innovarum needs to welcome the new team member relatively soon.

Where Lab Innovation Powers a Circular Economy...
Ever dreamt of turning lab breakthroughs into real-world sustainability? At CETIM, it´s not just about extracting metals—it´s about redefining resource recovery. If you thrive on transforming waste into wealth through precise R&D, this is your catalyst moment.
Why Your Research Will Matter Here
Picture this: your work directly converts electronic waste, industrial residues, and critical raw materials into valuable resources. No massive mining scales—just impactful science using reactors (1L) and matrass flasks (100L) to build Europe’s circular future. This is not a role for someone who wants to work in large-scale mining operations—it’s for an R&D scientist who loves the challenge of optimizing processes at the lab and pilot scale, using advanced equipment and experimental design.
Why will you want this role?
- Permanent role in a pioneering research center.
- State-of-the-art labs and pilot facilities.
- Leadership opportunity managing technical staff.
- Professional growth through conferences, publications, and mentorship.
- Multicultural team focused on tangible environmental outcomes.
- The chance to live and work in one of Spain’s most desirable coastal cities.
- 6 days of home office per month.
Who are you?
- MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field, with hands-on R&D experience (not large-scale mining).
- Practical knowledge of lab-scale hydrometallurgy (reactors, flasks) and a passion for critical-material recovery and process innovation.
- Experience in biohydrometallurgy is a major plus.
- Strong communication skills in Spanish and English (B2+ level).
- A collaborative mindset and a drive to see research move from the lab to real-world impact.
- Nationality is not a barrier—if you have the skills, we want to hear from you.
